The Outsiders Alternate Ending

The Outsiders Alternate Ending
Starting Point: When Johnny and Ponyboy are camping out in the church before they cut their hair.
What’s different so far: Dally told Darry and Sodapop where Johnny and Ponyboy are and they told the cops to go get them.

“What’s going to happen to us Johnny?” I stuttered. “I don’t know Pony, we can’t just live in here forever.” Johnny sulked. My eyes grew heavy and I was exhausted from running away. After a few minutes I couldn’t hold it back any longer and I passed out cold. I awoke to the sound of blaring sirens and Johnny shaking me. “Get up!” Johnny yelled. It was dawn and the sun was just peaking over the mountains. I heard a car door slam and I jumped up and ran towards the old water pump. I skidded to a stop at the drop off and some rocks plummeted down. Johnny was right beside me and he gave me a look that said, “It’s our only chance.” And he dived off the edge. I heard a whole bunch of branches snapping and then a loud thud. A shot was fired at me and I heard the whizzing noise as it barely missed my head. I ran off the edge as quickly as I could and I buried my face in Dally’s jacket. I hit the bottom with a thud and was knocked out instantly. The cops peered over the edge and couldn’t see us through the foliage, but they knew we would have died from the fall. They turned around and headed back to tell Darry and Soda the bad news.

I woke up hours later and I was hurt but the jacket cushioned my fall. Johnny on the other hand wasn’t so lucky. I got up and winced because my leg was cut. I walked over to Johnny and saw what condition he was in. Johnny had broken his leg and gotten numerous scrapes from the tree branches. I pulled out my switch and flipped the shimmering blade out. A tear trickled down my cheek as I plunged the knife deep into the tree branch. (And you thought I was going to kill him didn’t you?) The branch snapped as I sliced my blade through it. I picked up the small branch and began slicing the bark and twigs off. I set the branch next to Johnny and did the same thing with another branch the same size. After I had the two branches I searched around for some rattan plants. After a while I found some next to a small pool of water. I cut a handful off with my switch and brought them back to Johnny. I gently placed the two branches on each side of his broken leg and fastened them together with the rattan to form a splint.

Next I needed to get Johnny a crutch so I began to look for a Y shaped branch. After what seemed like forever I finally found a Y branch halfway up a tree about 35 feet high but I needed some way to get it off and down to the forest floor. Once I had pondered my thoughts for a while, it finally hit me, literally. A small rock fell out from the tree I was sitting under; I guess a bird must have been carrying it. I grabbed the rock and began to climb the tree. Once I was almost at the Y branch, my leg slipped and I fell down a few feet but I just barely managed to grab hold of a sturdy branch. During the fall I accidentally dropped the rock I was holding but I kept climbing since I would have wasted a lot of time if I turned back now. Persistent to get the legendary Y branch I swiveled around to the other side of the tree and began climbing again. Once I had finally gotten to the branch I got a firm grip on the tree and tried to snap the branch with my free arm. The branch broke surprisingly easily and I almost fell out of the tree because I swung really hard. The branch tumbled down to the ground and landed in a small pile of leaves. I started making my way down the tree when I heard a yell come from Johnny’s direction. I nimbly leaped out of the tree, grabbed the branch and darted towards Johnny. When I got to the location where I and Johnny had jumped off the edge Johnny was nowhere to be seen.

Frantically I started running around everywhere in search of Johnny when I suddenly heard a fierce roar. I whirled around as I saw a towering grizzly bear walking towards me. My hands started trembling but I firmly held the branch and pointed it towards the bear. I started yelling at the bear and waved the branch at it. The menacing bear kept coming at me so I lunged at it and shoved the branch into the beast’s neck. The bear started to choke because the Y shape made it put all the pressure on the bear’s jugular tube. It swiped at me with its huge paw and tore part of Dally’s jacket open. I grimaced in pain as I heard Johnny yelling “Get back you stupid bear!” as he started throwing large rocks at the bear. The bear turned its attention to Johnny and started charging towards him. Johnny began to run but stumbled and fell to the ground because of his broken leg. The enraged bear tried to swipe at Johnny but missed and got its sharp claws stuck in a tree. The bear ripped its paw out of the tree and the tree crashed to the ground making a barrier between the bear and Johnny. I sprinted towards the bear and jumped on top of its back. The bear whipped around trying to throw me off but I held fast. I blindly tried to hit it in the face and I viciously clawed out one of its eyes. Johnny struggled to get up and away from the bear. The bear slammed itself into a tree and I fell off. As the bear span around to face me I punched it in the nose and it let out a painful roar. I flipped out my switch and rapidly stabbed the bear and it started bleeding everywhere. The bear gave one final roar as it fell to the ground. Johnny was bleeding profusely from the bears attacks and since I didn’t have good first aid it was pretty much the end for Johnny. I wept as I watched Johnny die. I soon turned around because I couldn’t bear to watch my best friend die.

Later when I had disposed of Johnny’s body in a nearby river I started to build a fire to cook the bear, I was sooooooo hungry! Once I had got a decent fire going I skinned the bear and cut out of piece of flesh with my pocketknife. I grabbed a nice strong stick and whittled it to form a skewer. I pierced the flesh and held it over the fire. After a few minutes the bear meat was looking pretty tasty, good enough to eat in fact. I was about to take a bite when something caught my eye. There was a nice batch of tasty looking mushrooms growing and I walked over to them and picked one off. This would go great with my bear steak, I thought to myself as I speared the mushroom onto the skewer. I promptly started munching away and soon fell asleep after eating my delicious meal.

I woke up in what must have been a few hours later because it was pretty dark and my fire had gone out. The bear wouldn’t be good to eat anymore because of the flesh rotting. I didn’t feel very well but hopefully some more rest would make me feel better. I struggled to get to sleep because I felt so bad it was really hard to fall asleep. I started to get all whole bunch of spit in my mouth and my stomach started to hurt really badly. I quickly got up and threw up everywhere. As I spat out the last of the bile in my mouth I got lightheaded and fell to the ground. Everything went black as I flailed my arms around in pain.

The images of my house, my friends and my brothers all swirled around in my head. I tried to call out to them but I made no sound and they didn’t notice me. The blissful images started to fade away in the darkness, I knew I was dying and there was nothing I could do to stop it… nobody could help me because nobody could hear me call out to them!

Fight stuff

When is it appropriate to get in a fight? It's only appropriate to get in a fight if someone attacks you first because then it is self defence.

Have you ever been in a fight? I've never been in a big fight because I'm I'm not a violent person but I've been in fights with my brother.

Why do some people get into a lot of fights? Some people get into fights a lot because they have no self control, they think violence is the answer and they are emotionally unstable.

Does alcohol have an effect on violence? Alcohol does have an impact on violence because it makes you easily invigorated and eliminates reason.

Do fights solve the problem? What are the alternatives? They usually don't solve the problem because the two groups of fighters just get more angry and want to fight more and stuff happens like people dieing or going to jail. Alternatives are negotiating a solution that doesn't involve violence.

Do you enjoy watching fights? I've never seen one.

Winter fun

On Saturday I went sledding with my friends Jericho and Anthony at the sledding hill just below Crystal mountain and I crashed twice into a pile of pine tree branches and the second time I kind of hurt my back. I have 3 types of sleds but I have 4 if you count my one I just bought. I have a red crazy carpet, a black 2 person plastic sled, a big, metal, black GT and a new blue disk. I'm really excited for this Friday because I get to go to Big White for snowboarding! It will be my first time snowboarding this year so I'm going to have to get used to it again. I got a new board last year because the year before that I lost my board at Whistler the day we were leaving when my friend dropped her ski pole on the lift and I went down to go get it but I had to take off my board on a ledge because it was right below the ledge and if I kept my board on wouldn't be able to get it because it was a really bumby course called honeycomb and it was a black diamond. So I took my board off and when I got the pole my bored slid down the track and I didn't see it go into a deep snow drift and I couldn't find it so I had to get a new board. Luckily it snowed a whole bunch today and yesterday and this morning on the radio it said that Big White got 18 more inches of snow! I can't wait to go!
