Letter to Santa Project

Dear Santa,
     
           I deserve presents this year because I have done a whole bunch of work around the house and not missed the bus as much as my freeloading brother, I have taken care of my pets and helped my parents with stuff. I'm pretty sure my report card will be great this term because I know I'm getting an A and a G in Social Studies and in Math class. For Christmas I hope to get some fish for my aquarium, an air rifle and Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare 2.

The fish falling from the sky

One warm, calm evening in the Atlantic Ocean just off the coast of Washington D.C., a large waterspout began to form near a large school of fish. As the waterspout grew in size, the fish started to get sucked upwards into the waterspout and started spinning out of control. Once the waterspout was rotating too quickly, the fish were sent flying out of the waterspout and went hurling wildy towards the White House in Washington D.C. People driving by in their cars and walking down the street shrieked with terror as they yelled "Look at all the fish falling from the sky!". Cars skidded off the roads nearly hitting other cars and people. As a large swordfish plopped on the road a semi-truck tried to stop but it was too late, the swordfish got squished and the guts exploded all over nearby pedestrians and the semi-truck. The sword was sent hurdling towards a terrified 5 year old at light speed and everyone shut their eyes tightly when they heard the peircing scream. A massive sigh of relief spread over everyone as they saw that it had just missed the child by an inch but it had pinned his shirt to a wall. His mother dashed towards hims and pulled the sword out of the wall. She tightly held him in her arms and everyone clapped.After a couple minutes the local aquarium arrived where the fish had landed and collected all the fish. The dead fish were cut up and feed to other fish and the live ones were nursed back to health and introduced into the tanks in the aquarium. Some of the fish had landed in a nearby nuclear power plant and started to develop weird mutations. The started to grow and get lungs so they could travel on land. One pufferfish gained legs and could fire out its spikes at will. They then made a plot to take over the white house because the Americans are polluting their waters. The fish clambered out of the nuclear waste vats but then some power plant workers spotted them. The pufferfish got startled by them when they started yelling so it shot out its spikes and hit the workers. The poison slowly seeped into the workers bloodstreams and incapacitated them. The saw shark stumbled up to one of the workers and cut a small square into the back of his head. A small, colourful fish crawled into the hole in the back of the workers head, which wasn't very big, but they left the brain intact for memory purposes. The fishes stole a control panel from the control room of the power plant and modified it into a brain control. One fish climbed into a dead workers head and attached the control to his brain stem. He then powered it on and brought the human back to life. The fishes made up a plot to assasinate the president. All the fish except for one and the fish who took over a workers body found a titanic sized hazardous materials moving van and piled into the back. The fish in the workers body got into the driver seat, but, since he didn't know how to drive a car, he tapped into the workers memory and learned how to drive. He found the keys sitting on the dashboard and put them into the ignition. He turned the key as the van roared to life. He then commenced driving to the White House. When he arrived there he got out of the van and unlocked the back. *Meanwhile back at the power plant the one fish that stayed flipped the switch to turn off the reactors thus shutting off power to the city.* The fish in the workers body quickly pulled up the sliding door as the city plunged into darkness. Terrified screams could be heard everywhere. The fish tumbled out of the van and onto the streets. They then took the white house by storm and captured the President. They held him for questioning on the whereabouts of some nuke silos and then "disposed" of him in a nearby dumpster. They then got back into their van and headed for the silos. They found the detonator and flipped the safety glass off and pushed the button to launch the missles to all over the world except for water and Canada because Canadians are cool. The world then became a deserted wasteland and the fish helped invent an aero-dome surrounding all bodies of water and Canada to protect against all the radiation and chemicals and keep the good oxygen in. And so the world lived peacefully until one day when an alien spaceship appeared on the horizon, but that, is another story. Dun dun dun dun.....................

The fish falling from the sky planning page

One day in the Atlantic Ocean near Washington D.C., there was a massive waterspout! As the waterspout sucked up water from the ocean, it also sucked up a whole bunch of fish. The fish then landed in a nuclear power plant and became radioactive. The fish started to grow strange adaptations and start to take over the white house. After infecting the President and mind controlling him, they take over the world and make a fish civilization.

Windstorm 6 days ago

6 days ago there was a kind of large windstorm throughout most of the Okanagan, at the beach the waves (which are normally about half a foot tall) were about 4 feet tall, which is the second tallest I've ever seen them get before. Also overnight during the windstorm a pine tree in our yard fell on our neighbors fence but surprisingly it didn't damage anything. Our neighbors chainsawed it and made some firewood for winter. Also 4 dead trees had to be cut down in our yard because if there was another windstorm like that they might fall over aswell and it ended up costing us $1000. :(

Can't wait for winter

It's November 24 today and I just got better from a cold I developed on Sunday. I currently do not have snow at my house but I did on November 13, sadly it all melted overnight. Last year it snowed on November 14 and (surprisingly) it actually stayed! :) No such luck this year though, although once the snow does stay I will be making my yearly igloo and doing "penguin sledding", which is a "sport" that I made up last year. All you need is a snowy, decently steep hill and a winter jacket. The snow should be at least 5 cm thick. (Note the snow must not be touched for a day after it has snowed in order to make it settle) To make a track, go down on your stomach while wearing your winter jacket and push yourself down the hill, try to do the worm or something like that, as using your arms will mess up the snow around you and using your feet will put dent in the track. You should do this about 3 times until there is a half pipe shaped track track on your hill. You can make it straight or curvy. After that you start on the top of the track and (if there is no ice at the top of the hill) you can get a running start but if not the start on your stomach and use your arms to give yourself a boost.
